Legend has it that in a letter written to her uncle in 1837, Sarah C. Miles Case wrote, “A branch of the Michigan University at Ann Arbor is to be established in Flint at some future day.” The day turned out to be September 23, 1956. On that autumn morning, Flint Senior College welcomed 167 students to what would become the University of Michigan-Flint.

Sixty-five years have passed, and more than 48,000 students have graduated from UM-Flint. The campus has evolved and adapted to the needs of the community we were established to serve: a community that has believed in us, supported our mission, and made it possible for countless students to fulfill their dreams. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students are inspired to think big, turn bold ideas into action, and effect positive change. We are counting on you to make a gift today to ensure UM-Flint remains strong, helping us stay among the leaders and best in higher education.

There is still so much we aspire to accomplish! We welcomed 2022 with a strong sense of optimism, knowing that with each new year comes the opportunity to reflect on challenges
we have overcome. The new year also implores us to tackle more. We will do this by providing students with experiences and opportunities that challenge them to go beyond their limits.
As you plan your charitable contributions for the year, I invite you to support the students of UM-Flint by donating to our highest priority funds. Yet, I also understand your commitment to campus may lie with a specific school, college, or program, and in that case I have included an option for you to direct your gift to initiatives that matter most to you.

I am proud to be leading our campus in its sixth decade. With your support, we will continue fulfilling our mission while seeking new opportunities for UM-Flint. Please make your gift today.

Thank you, and Go Blue!
