Arab Alumni Scholarship Fund
The University of Michigan Arab Alumni Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 with a generous gift from Dr. Hamed Hamud Alajlan (BSEIO ’78) to the Horace H. Rackham Graduate School. Dr. Alajlan’s gift has also been a catalyst for other donors who have added to the fund and increased its impact.

The Arab Alumni Scholarship Fund will be used to support Masters level students in the Rackham Graduate School who have shown perseverance overcoming hardships, including financial circumstances, and who have earned an undergraduate degree from an educational institution located in one of 22 countries listed below.
These students and scholars will add to the already robust global community of teaching and learning, all while pursuing extraordinary education. Moreover, their successes on campus and as alumni will enhance U-M’s reputation as they become thought leaders, in their respective regions and globally.
The scholarship will be awarded to a current Master’s student in the Rackham Graduate School who has earned an undergraduate degree from one of the following countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, and Yemen. Candidates with a science background and scholarly interest in the social sciences and humanities will receive additional consideration.
Fund Type – Endowed
The scholarship will be endowed with support from alumni and friends wishing to support graduate students that match the criteria outlined above.
In accordance with University procedure, donors will be recognized by suitable means, and will be periodically notified of fund recipients and impact.
