Shari Schrader

Vice Chancellor for University Advancement
University of Michigan-Flint

Students and faculty alike have shown incredible perseverance throughout the pandemic, and your belief in the University of Michigan-Flint provides great encouragement. As we prepare for some very exciting opportunities in the upcoming year, I hope you will join me in continuing to support our university—everything we do is only possible with your help.

This fall, UM-Flint welcomed almost 7,000 students. Your support creates many opportunities—such as scholarships, which help give students the opportunity to receive an education from a regional comprehensive university, known as an exceptional educational value with one of the state’s most affordable tuition rates. Removing barriers to education and creating opportunities for students is an ideal UM-Flint leadership has put into practice.

Our commitment to alumni, donors, friends, and the community is to continue to look toward the future. We will expand our investments in advising and mentoring to improve retention; mapping clear pathways to graduation for every major; and growing our new College of Innovation & Technology, which will prepare students for promising careers in smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, health care, aerospace, biotech, cybersecurity, and many other sectors of the 21st-century economy.

I am honored to serve as the new vice chancellor for university advancement and return to my home state after 30 years. Together, we will impact students’ lives, support faculty, encourage world-changing research and initiatives, and make our community, state, and nation better places for all. I hope you will join me in supporting UM-Flint so we can continue to build a better future.

Go Blue!

Sincerely,
