Cynthia McCurren

Dean, School of Nursing
University of Michigan-Flint

As the new dean of the University of Michigan-Flint School of Nursing (SON), I could not be more proud of the superior work undertaken by our nursing students and faculty throughout the pandemic. From participating in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout to advocating for additional resources, education, and reporting, SON responded to the call for help in extraordinary ways. Because of donors like you, our students were able to serve our community with compassion and gain valuable hands-on experience. Please make a gift today to ensure we can continue to make an impact in our community.

There is still so much we aspire to accomplish! A gift to SON will ensure that we can continue expanding our local reach while addressing critical issues like systemic inequities in education and health care. Your investment will allow our students to continue partnering with our public schools to explore school-based care, promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, and advocate for those dealing with mental health issues.

The SON Simulation Center is one of many components of our state-of-the-art curriculum. The center’s mission is to provide high-quality, simulation-based learning experiences for future health care professionals, focusing on evidence-based, culturally competent, patient-centered care that improves patient safety and health outcomes. The generosity of our donors made it possible to establish the Simulation Center in 2014. Continued giving will keep it on the cutting edge of healthcare technology.

Please consider making a gift to one of the following priorities: School of Nursing Opportunity Fund, Nursing Simulation Lab Fund, Nursing Student Emergency Fund, or School of Nursing Alumni Organization Endowed Scholarship Fund. On behalf of the UM-Flint nursing students and faculty, I thank you for all you do to support the future of our students and our program.

Sincerely,
