One of my favorite philosophies is “expect the unexpected.” It has served me well as a scientist, a dean, and a member of the global community, especially over the past few years. There’s one thing, though, that I can always rely on: our school’s commitment to being an international leader in education and research related to physical activity, health and wellness, and sport management. We are constantly striving to build our research, broaden our educational experiences, and strengthen our community. And we need your help to do it.

Opening our new building for classes this year was a major milestone. After a transformative renovation, the School of Kinesiology Building (SKB) now offers 26,000 square feet of teaching and learning space and 36,000 square feet of research space, all containing top-of-the-line equipment and amenities.

Our already world-class academic and research programs now have the room and resources to grow even bigger and better. Our prominent campus location greatly increases the visibility of the work we do. And our state-of-the-art learning and research spaces encourage more collaboration and innovation.

We’re already using this to our advantage. The Strategic Synergy Hiring Initiative, currently underway, includes eight new faculty positions across our four programs. The new Athletic Training master’s program, which began classes in July, gives students on-the-field clinical experience, challenging coursework, and access to the nation’s top researchers and medical practitioners. And the Sport Management Immersion Program, now in its second year, offers first-year students a winter-term start with a small cohort and a special spring travel experience—all with the same high-level curriculum as the standard SM program.

We could not have achieved any of this without your support, but we’re just getting started. Will you help us keep this momentum going?

Thank you and Go Blue!
